Creating a Life You Crave

Jana Shelfer

Are you ready to create a life you crave? Let's spin that doom loop of negativity into an upward success cycle and start Living Lucky®. Good morning I'm.

Jana Shelfer

Jana, I'm Jason and we're pulling this one out of our tuchus Love it. Are you having fun? Are you having fun in your life, in your business, in your marriage with your kids, in parenthood? Are you having fun, or has life become an obligation? Jason and I got suckered in. Yesterday we got suckered in. This is how weak we are at times. I'm just going to be vulnerable. We got this little flyer in the mail and it said you've won a free cruise. Free cruise.

Jana Shelfer

Lottery.

Jana Shelfer

And I'm like, oh, this is one of those scams. That's the first thing that went through my head. And then, right after I said that, I read the sentence. This is not a scam.

Jason Shelfer

This is not a timeshare.

Jana Shelfer

And this is not a timeshare. All you need to do is give your opinion.

Jason Shelfer

And it's yep.

Jana Shelfer

And we're going to reward you with a seven-night cruise.

Jason Shelfer

We've got opinions.

Jana Shelfer

And I thought, huh, I've got opinions. And I thought, huh, I've got opinions, and I haven't been on a cruise in a while. I really don't want to live in skepticism for my whole life, I'm just going to. I think we should just go see what this is.

Jason Shelfer

It's 90 minutes long. There's nothing on the calendar.

Jana Shelfer

Now this guy's presentation was all about taking vacations and of course he wanted us to join his club, his vacation club.

Jason Shelfer

And we do love to vacation.

Jana Shelfer

We love to vacation. And I'm going to be real, he almost got us. He almost got us, Even though in the car on the way there we made a pact we're not buying anything.

Jason Shelfer

You too could spend two weeks on the Amalfi.

Jana Shelfer

Coast. We're only going there to listen to our 90 minutes. I'm setting the clock and then I'm leaving with my free cruise. However, what I came away with is he said so many times that vacation is not something that we reward ourselves with. It's not an add-on in life, it's a necessity. Did you get that?

Jason Shelfer

from him. I did. It was something that was said about every eight to 10 minutes.

Jana Shelfer

Because it really will balance your mental well-being, your emotional well-being, your physical well-being. We need to rest, we need to relax, we need to see new environment, we need the anticipation of oh, we've got something special coming up. We need that alone time.

Jason Shelfer

The exploration, yes, the new experiences. We need the excitement and the adventure.

Jana Shelfer

And you know, this morning, jason was reading some quotes from none other than Miss Martha Beck, who is the world's life coach. And what did she say?

Jason Shelfer

She said, having fun is not a diversion from a successful life, it's the pathway to it.

Fun Opens Doors to Opportunities

Jana Shelfer

And I believe vacation is fun. Vacation is fun, right? We would all put that in the fun category. 100%. For the most part, most vacations are fun.

Jason Shelfer

Life is really about experiences, like it's having fun, it's the doing and just feeling, like what are the things that I can do to have the most joyful and memorable experience of this time on earth?

Jana Shelfer

And I really think that when we put ourselves in fun, in a fun state, it opens our awareness to opportunities, it puts us in a better mood, which then we attract better people into our lives. We attract better opportunities.

Jason Shelfer

Puts us in a creative state.

Jana Shelfer

We are just open. We are open to the universe and we are open to say, hey, how can I give, how can I contribute?

Jason Shelfer

Thank you more, please, yes it really is.

Jason Shelfer

Well, it's that awe state. One of the things is it brings into this feeling of wow, look at the abundance that is available. And yes, it's available for me because it's right here, like I'm in it. And a lot of times we get so used to seeing what is around us every single day. It's that law of habituation that things start fading into the background and start fading into normalcy, like I don't, I'm not appreciative of it anymore. So if we start being grateful for all the things and start being hyper aware of what's in our immediate surroundings, in our immediate environment, and focus on fun on a daily basis, we can pick these things and bring life back into them on a regular basis.

Jana Shelfer

I just know that when I'm having fun, I problem solve better.

Jason Shelfer

Yes.

Jana Shelfer

I am a better partner. I show up as my better self.

Jason Shelfer

Our energy levels are higher.

Reconnecting With Your Fun Side

Jana Shelfer

Yes, my motivation, my inspiration, everything just tends to increase a little bit. Everything just tends to increase a little bit, and so I feel like it is the one ingredient that, for some reason, we tend to push it to the back burner. Even like teachers. They're like okay, it's time to put the fun aside. Let's get the books out put the nose in the books. Right.

Jana Shelfer

Yeah.

Jason Shelfer

And it's one of those things that the older we get or the more we get focused on quote, unquote, success or the job at hand, the more we try to push fun to the end of the line and we could just say let's go fun hand in hand towards this.

Jana Shelfer

Yeah, I mean, if our bank accounts are getting a little low, we're like, oh, it's time to nose grind. No, more fun yeah we got to stop all the fun because we got to tighten the budget here.

Jason Shelfer

Let's put the handcuffs on and get in the mines. Cut out all the fun. Yeah, get into the mines and start digging for gold.

Jana Shelfer

And then it becomes we start digging ourselves in this hole, yeah, and then life gets miserable yes and then you.

Jason Shelfer

Then you get up one morning you're like where am I, who am I and what happened to the life that I I enjoyed yes, and and you forget how to that I enjoyed yes, and it just feels. And you forget how to have fun Like that's one of. That's a big thing, is you just? You all of a sudden wake up one morning and you're like, what is fun?

Jana Shelfer

I have noticed that with us. So I've noticed that some with our charisma a little.

Jason Shelfer

Well, I feel like in the last couple of years we've gotten a lot of that back.

Jana Shelfer

I know, but just having the nieces here this past week, we're a little rusty with making them laugh.

Jason Shelfer

I think we're rusty with them, with other people sometimes, but I have a lot of fun with you.

Jana Shelfer

Well, thanks, but I'm an easy, an easy crowd. Now you are an easy crowd, I guess. What I'm trying to say is I feel like maybe we've even gotten a little rusty in laughing and, in you know, carrying the conversation in a, in a way that stays fun that stays fun. We get a little heavy.

Jason Shelfer

Especially Mr Professorial over here.

Jana Shelfer

Yes, that's exactly what I'm talking about, yeah.

Jason Shelfer

Mr Preachy Preachy. Yes, I'm sorry, I'm working on it Preachy, teachy, I'm trying. I'm trying Because I do like to have fun and I think what happens oftentimes.

Jana Shelfer

But then when you tried to go back to your fun self, it came across a little forced.

Jason Shelfer

Yeah, like, let me tell you how it is, like, let me tell you what not to do when really it's about hey, just try and experiment and see what works for you.

Jana Shelfer

Yeah, yeah, which that's not working right now, I know. It's all good, I'll still give you a courtesy laugh, I know.

Living Lucky Through Daily Joy

Jason Shelfer

I, I and I'm, I am working on it. It's. You're not the first person that said it. I've had group calls of coaching that have, um, have some of the feedback. I mean, out of hundreds of people, I have had a couple of people that have said hey, it's come like. Sometimes you come across as kind of professorial and like we like the fun side of you, we like the jokey side, like it feels more real and authentic when you are having fun and when you are laughing and when you are like in this experience with us, so that.

Jana Shelfer

so let's ask ourselves how can we get ourselves in that fun state?

Jason Shelfer

Yeah, and I think what happens is is just like kind of when you feel like like when you mentioned earlier, when the bank account gets low and it feels like it gets super serious, like things are dire.

Jana Shelfer

So I think it's becoming self-deprecating and it's getting out of your body. It's literally taking your awareness outside of your body and say oh there I go again.

Jason Shelfer

Yeah.

Jana Shelfer

Becoming Mr Professor Jason. Yeah, trying to put up the, I go again. Yeah, becoming Mr Professor Jason.

Jason Shelfer

Yeah, trying to put up the wall of protection.

Jana Shelfer

Yeah.

Jason Shelfer

Trying not to get back to something, but like it's because that's what it is. In a sense, it's kind of like the bank account sense of be careful of showing this side, be careful of showing this side it's. It's a weird thing because I remember back when I wasn't having fun and when I like I and I'm trying to protect them from it. So it's like me building up this wall for them and I don't need to do that. It's really it's a weird. It's it's freaking weird.

Jana Shelfer

Okay, so you're saying that you're trying to protect them from not having fun Right by overly?

Jason Shelfer

having fun. It's that weird mirror thing. Yeah, and it's jacked up.

Jana Shelfer

It's like you're playing chess three steps ahead In my life.

Jason Shelfer

I live it on the day-to-day basis of showing people like we live this incredible life. Yeah, we do Like having fun.

Jana Shelfer

We usually have fun. We ski, we travel. In fact, most people say wait, you're working today. What does that mean? Oh, that means we're probably going to go out and ski today.

Jason Shelfer

We're probably going to go out and ski. We're probably going to have a ballroom dance lesson.

Jason Shelfer

And out and ski. We're playing ballroom dance lesson. How is that work? And I'm like well, we've incorporated. Our life is fun, we have a lot of fun, we'll have a couple of clients, we'll do a podcast, we might shoot some video. Just depends on what we feel. We'll play with the dog, we'll walk around the pond, go for a boat ride, go visit with some people, know it's. It's a fun life and if we feel like traveling, we'll just go travel and people are still little.

Jana Shelfer

Their jaws go down. They're like I don't know how that I want to do some of that.

Fun as Your Compass to Destiny

Jason Shelfer

Well, you know it's it's a process. It's it's something that it takes time to do, but it's been a process you've got to. It's a process that takes a lot of time to do. It has been a process You've got to. It's a process that takes a lot of like time. It's a, it's a way of being in life.

Jana Shelfer

It's an art.

Jason Shelfer

Yeah, and it's, and it comes with kind of stepping into it and I think it's that energy of living it's facing the uncertainty and having faith, and knowing that you're living luck, I, I, I come back like nope. A lot of people don't understand this Living Lucky® thing, but it is an energy that you step into and it's incredible the way things just come towards us when we're living like this and having fun. I mean, I got three calls yesterday about us coming to events and just being in their space because they want our energy.

Jana Shelfer

We're going to one tomorrow.

Jason Shelfer

I know, and those are the things that happen because of how we live life and how we show up, because of just who we are. So what?

Jana Shelfer

you're saying is many people avoid fun and it's actually the opposite. If you follow the fun, it's almost a bumper. It's like the bumper.

Jason Shelfer

It's the universe, then wants to be your friend instead of fight against you.

Jana Shelfer

It's the compass to your destiny.

Jason Shelfer

Yes, thank you.

Jana Shelfer

Does that wrap?

Jason Shelfer

it up.

Jana Shelfer

Yes, fun is the compass to your destiny, amen, oh my gosh, thanks for joining us, keep Living Lucky®.
