Jana Shelfer:

Are you ready to create a life you crave? Let's spin that doom loop of negativity into an upward success cycle and start Living Lucky®. Good morning. I'm Jana, I'm Jason and we are Living Lucky®. You are, too. Today, we're talking about creating your luck by.

Jason Shelfer:

Creating a lucky list.

Jana Shelfer:

A lucky list. It seems so easy, and yet we don't do that.

Jason Shelfer:

We rarely take the time to slow down and take Inventory I love that word Inventory of the wonderful, beautiful things in our life and the way luck shows itself every single day.

Jana Shelfer:

Well, we often say celebrate your wins. We often say make a gratitude list. We don't use the words make a lucky list.

Jason Shelfer:

Yeah, and you can't create more luck if you're not already acknowledging and appreciating the luck that you currently have.

Jana Shelfer:

Do you wanna know why? Because there is a law in the universe that what you appreciate appreciates. And if you take note, if you actually write it down when something lucky happens whether it's just like when I see rabbits in the yard I make note of it I actually say, oh my gosh you bring other people's attention, I do.

Jason Shelfer:

I say, look at those rabbits.

Jana Shelfer:

Do you see how rabbits just follow me around? I make a point of it. Or when I see money on the ground, I literally stop. I'll stop traffic and I will pick it up. And then I say thank you for the abundance, Like I make a really big deal about it. And when I do that, what I'm doing is I am telling my soul that this is important. And not only am I telling my soul, but I'm telling the universe that I value moments like this.

Jason Shelfer:

That's freaking huge. So if you think about the universe or your creator as a being, we all want appreciation. We all want to say is what I'm doing worth it? And when we say thank you, when we say, oh my gosh, I noticed it creates this wanting and willingness to give more for you to notice. And there's so much already out there that has been created and put in our paths for us to notice. And I think sometimes we just get numb to it. We start telling ourselves that's just the norm. I want more. Nothing wrong with wanting more. Let's stop taking things so much for granted.

Jana Shelfer:

Yeah, because when you're in the energy of wanting, wanting, wanting, it starts becoming a little needy.

Jason Shelfer:

Yeah Well, also, when you're in that energy of wanting, wanting, wanting, the flip side of that, or the shadow side, is I don't have it.

Jana Shelfer:

Whereas if you are in the energy of thank you, I love this. I am so grateful for this it is all around me Look how beautiful this is. Wow, I love this. It's almost like Santa Claus says oh my gosh, this kid appreciates this present I want to give this kid more.

Jason Shelfer:

Yeah, it's so fun for me as Santa, to give this person gifts. Why don't we make Christmas every day? Yes, like it fills me up hearing that appreciation, recognizing the acknowledgement of it. How can I show up more for this person?

Jana Shelfer:

My mom always wants to cook for Jason.

Jason Shelfer:

And I appreciate it too much.

Jana Shelfer:

Always wants to cook something for Jason. And here's why Is because when Jason is home, Jason takes the time to not only eat what she cooks, but you verbally appreciate what she makes and you make her feel so valued.

Jason Shelfer:

It's in that resonance, law of not reciprocation, but it's in that frequency of oh my gosh, this person enjoys this so much. I enjoy this feeling I'm experiencing.

Jana Shelfer:

I want to create more of that. There's a reciprocity there.

Jason Shelfer:

It's a couple of those universal laws all wrapped into one, and that's where, if we start creating this lucky list, it retrains our reticular activating system.

Jana Shelfer:

Which we've already talked about in one of our prior podcasts, because it's so important.

Jason Shelfer:

If you tell yourself I'm not lucky, lucky things don't happen for me, you will build the evidence for that, Whether it's consciously or subconsciously. You won't be aware of all the blessings, all the wonderful, all the luck that you currently have. And when you make this list, you get to start recognizing kind of those patterns of where does luck show up in my life? How am I showing up for life in those times and areas, Correct? And then you get to start adjusting the patterns where you don't see luck appearing and showing up the way you would if you thought luck was going to appear. And what you'll find is when you show up as if luck was going to appear, luck will appear. I'm telling you.

Jana Shelfer:

I feel I mean just talking about this just in the last few days I've had I had mailbox money come to me the other day. I love some mailbox money. I mean seriously mailbox money left some mailbox money, I mean seriously mailbox money. And it was from the mortgage company saying that I overpaid in escrow last year. I'm like what?

Jason Shelfer:

Well, here's a couple thousand dollars for you.

Jana Shelfer:

They did.

Jason Shelfer:

Thank you, thank you more please.

Jana Shelfer:

Yes, I was like I even had to take it to you and say is this a scam? Are they trying to get my bank account numbers? I was like, is this real? Surely they didn't just send me a check in the mail, right that?

Jason Shelfer:

can't be real. We made too much money on you this year, right.

Jana Shelfer:

Like seriously, that is that for me, and I was so grateful because I really needed it this month.

Jason Shelfer:

Well, when don't we want more abundance?

Jana Shelfer:

I was like wow, that was really really appreciated this month.

Jason Shelfer:

Thank you, Well, it just keeps getting better from here.

Jana Shelfer:

Right.

Jason Shelfer:

Yes.

Jana Shelfer:

And when we take note and when we appreciate it, it feels like the universe just keeps providing.

Jason Shelfer:

At 100%. That's the law. I see the evidence of that and, to be honest, I wasn't always the guy. I was always optimistic and tried to be positive. Not saying I always was positive, yeah, but I tried.

Jana Shelfer:

Sometimes you slip in traffic. Yes, sometimes you slip in traffic, and sometimes you slip when it comes to tater begging for food.

Jason Shelfer:

Yeah.

Jana Shelfer:

You get into a little bit of a.

Jason Shelfer:

Quit training her in bad habits.

Jana Shelfer:

You slip out of your positivity. Quit training her in bad habits Like this isn't the way I think a dog should be.

Jason Shelfer:

You slip out of your positivity and that's part of me being. It's not the way I think things should be, and because I'm so accustomed now to creating my reality, if I can let go of some of that ego about it's supposed quote, unquote supposed to be a certain way, yes, then I can let go of oh well, she's just doing like. Like you said, she treats us the way we've trained her to treat us, which is so evident in any dog. And that's, and in 99% of, my traffic Of life, of life, yeah.

Jana Shelfer:

It's pretty perfect.

Jason Shelfer:

Right. And the other part of that is is when you, when you bring that up to me and you make it, make me aware, I recognize it's not the situation at all.

Jana Shelfer:

It's not it's never the situation.

Jason Shelfer:

It's my thoughts about the situation and my thoughts that quote unquote. It should be a specific way. I'm I'm being inconvenienced when I'm not being inconvenienced Really. I've just told myself I'm being inconvenienced when I'm not being inconvenienced Really. I've just told myself I'm being inconvenienced. How lucky am I to have that awareness, putting it in my lucky journal, in my lucky list.

Jana Shelfer:

I'm so grateful that you're seeing it that way.

Jason Shelfer:

Well, the challenge is is is maintaining that focus? There's so much to focus on throughout life, and where are we putting our energy? Are we putting our energy in the focus on worry, like if I had a bank account and it had $1,000 in it? Am I going to spend $999 on worrying, $999 on any of these things that aren't in the path of what I want to create?

Jana Shelfer:

Okay, so let's get tangible in how to make a lucky list, because we have often talked about gratitude journals, but let's talk about a phone app.

Jason Shelfer:

The first thing is, yeah, get some place, to put it like, get a designated spot to write down your lucky moments, whether it's your phone, maybe your notes app on most phones have a notes app right on their.

Jana Shelfer:

you know their first page of your, your phone.

Jason Shelfer:

Yeah, and you can literally just, I mean you and most people have their phones out most of the day anyway.

Jana Shelfer:

I mean to be honest you literally just hit the notes app and you can literally just start writing down when you have a little lucky moment. For me, a lucky moment is whenever I see animals. I love seeing clusters of animals together.

Jason Shelfer:

A rainbow.

Jana Shelfer:

Specifically, specifically rabbits for me.

Jason Shelfer:

Yeah, and for me it's a rainbow. It's awareness moments, like the awareness that you've brought. Again, to where am I deciding to act differently based on my thoughts and feelings about, um, the life that's going on, the circumstances? Because it's not about the circumstance, it's about the interpretation of it.

Jana Shelfer:

I've also been feeling. I've also been having these really lucky moments in, so I've been binge watching this. I know it sounds so silly, but it's this show on Netflix and it's called Blind.

Jason Shelfer:

Love is Blind.

Jana Shelfer:

Something Love is Blind, yeah. So it just makes me smile because it's all about love. And so I've been having these little lucky thoughts about love, and it feels like whenever I have a little lucky thought about love, like whenever I smile, and I have like this little fuzzy moment where I'm like, oh, I love their relationship. Right, then you'll bring me eggs or you'll bring me coffee and I think, oh my gosh, I feel so I'm like the luckiest girl to have you.

Jason Shelfer:

Yeah, and so now that we've written it down, so we have a place to put it whether it's our phone or notebook. We've written it down because we're taking account of an inventory of the lucky moments in our lives. Then at the end of the week, we go back and review.

Jana Shelfer:

That is a step that I feel like I sometimes overlook.

Jason Shelfer:

So we have a lucky jar or a gratitude jar on our kitchen island.

Jana Shelfer:

Yeah, and sometimes we go months, if not a year, without looking at what's inside it.

Jason Shelfer:

But when we do look inside it and start pulling out little things, it brings back all that emotion and feeling and vibration of how abundant we are in it.

Jana Shelfer:

So then you get to not only relive it, but then if you share it with somebody, then it becomes exponential yeah.

Jason Shelfer:

And it shows other people of the evidence where they may or may not be looking for it and not recognizing it. And then they get to see oh, I have that also, and we get to build from what we have.

Jana Shelfer:

By writing it down, you're not only telling your soul that you value this, you're telling the universe that you value this, that this is important. You're training your reticular activating system, which we have talked about. You are also reliving the moment, putting yourself in a different state. You're bringing a different energy. You are also inspiring others. There's so many different components to this. You are also maybe stimulating different physiological chemicals in your brain whether that's dopamine or oxytocin All the goody goods.

Jason Shelfer:

All the feels yeah, feel, feel good. And so the call to action this week is just start a lucky list, start a little log of when things are happening for you, when, how, how the universe is providing for you, like, what are those lucky moments in life? And then go through that for a week or two and then review it at the end of the week.

Jana Shelfer:

The more you tune into it, the more you will start recognizing it.

Jason Shelfer:

It's just like a radio station you tune in to get rid of the static, all the things that are interfering with the life that you're creating, and once you get dialed in, it just becomes part of who you are and you will realize that, oh my gosh, I am Living Lucky®.

Jana Shelfer:

And it almost feels like it starts growing. But what you're really realizing is it has been there all along. You are just now.

Jason Shelfer:

Aware.

Jana Shelfer:

Yeah.

Jason Shelfer:

So it's so big and then we have so much more to work with in whatever we want to create in the world, Like when we're truly creating our full expression of reality. When you realize how much we currently have to work with and how lucky we really are, then we have all the tools right at our fingertips and it's incredible. Thanks for joining us.
