Jana Shelfer:

Are you ready to create a life you crave? Let's spin that doom loop of negativity into an upward success cycle and start Living Lucky®. Good morning. I'm Jana, I'm Jason and we are Living Lucky®. You are too.

Jana Shelfer:

We've been doing this series on questions that will change your life If you ask the right questions.

Jason Shelfer:

You get better answers.

Jana Shelfer:

You get better answers, and really that's what. That's the secret. That is the secret? Is training your brain to ask better questions?

Jason Shelfer:

Today, our question is if you could design your perfect day, what would that look like? What activities would bring you joy, fulfillment and a sense of purpose?

Jana Shelfer:

Now, especially when Jason and I first got on our self-development journey, we did this exercise with almost every coach, Every coach you work with. It's usually one of the first worksheets they give you let's design your ideal life and they literally sit you down and sometimes we would meditate. One time we actually did a weekend retreat with our coach Berta, where we actually went to Tennessee and we locked ourselves in a cabin and we literally thought about every aspect of what an ideal life would be, not only for me, but Jason did it for him and then we did it together.

Jana Shelfer:

Yes, like, what does that look like for us? That way, we're being brutally honest about what it is that we don't want, because what we both have realized is that many times, we, sometimes unknowingly, say things to please the people around us.

Jason Shelfer:

Yes, I got chills like goosebumps when you were talking about this.

Jana Shelfer:

You have goosies every podcast.

Jason Shelfer:

Because I think we're talking about for me, it's very important things, and it's very important things that have been life shifting for us. And when you were going through that, I would just remember, before we got deep into self-development and personal growth, that I was chasing this idea of what I wanted my life to be like and sooner or later I'm going to get there and what I realized is I was so exhausted doing what I was doing every day that the thought occurred to me over and over again that this isn't sustainable.

Jana Shelfer:

Sometimes oh, now I've got goosies, thanks. But sometimes we think we want one thing and when you really start peeling the layers and doing the work you realize that's not really what I want. I'm living in someone else's values. I'm living in what society thinks that I should want.

Jason Shelfer:

Yeah, and also we're in this kind of imaginary zone where we haven't fully, like deeply visualized, like what it looks like, what it sounds like, what it smells, like, the noises that I'm hearing around me, the people that I'm seeing around me, so all these things. There was this vague thought of what I thought I wanted my life to be. And I didn't I was. I never got crystal clear on what it looked like.

Jana Shelfer:

So it might be time to do this exercise again.

Jason Shelfer:

I feel like we do it every, every beginning of the year and, yeah, it's a perfect time.

Jana Shelfer:

I do remember that, my ideal life. I remember specifically writing what I wanted to eat, what I wanted to feel, what I wanted to look like, and I know a couple of things that really stand out. I remember saying I wanted to work from home.

Jason Shelfer:

Like.

Jana Shelfer:

I wanted a new way of working. In fact, I even put that on the vision board.

Jason Shelfer:

I remember.

Jana Shelfer:

And I also remember. I said, and at one once one o'clock comes around, I want my day to be done.

Jason Shelfer:

Yeah.

Jana Shelfer:

And to where I can just do whatever I want to do.

Jason Shelfer:

I work from four to one and that's it, or five to one after the morning routine and anyway, my life is like that.

Jana Shelfer:

Now I will say I am now pivoting a little bit because I sometimes feel like I get a little lazy once noon comes around, once it's lunchtime, I'm like calling it a day. People are like hey, do you want to go? Have you know. Do you want to meet me at the coffee place? No, I'm done. Do you want to go to dinner?

Jason Shelfer:

I'm putting my pajamas on and I'm going to bed. It's relax time, yeah, so one of the things that I've gained from all this is that when we clearly define it, we can use our emotions and our thoughts to kind of hit those guardrails and start designing it. Yeah and that's, and so I hear you like everything that's been on your vision board has come to fruition.

Jana Shelfer:

Not exactly in the way that I expected, but it has all come.

Jason Shelfer:

In one way or another. It's shown up.

Jana Shelfer:

It has all shown up for me, you've created.

Jason Shelfer:

It is what's happened. You've manifested it, created it because we do create our own reality. But we have to ask the question that leads us towards it, not leads us away from it. And I remember going through it for myself where I was asking a lot of questions that were leaning me away from it, like why am I not getting this promotion? And then, even if a promotion showed up, I didn't take it. There were, I think, three promotions for me and I was like I took it once and I wouldn't. I didn't take it, Like I there were, I think, three promotions for me and I was like I took it once and then I was like I do not like this.

Jason Shelfer:

And then I said I need to. I want to go back and do my own thing, like do what I was doing. So it's a, I think, getting clear about the questions we ask, make sure they're empowering and that they're leading us to this clearly defined outcome.

Jana Shelfer:

Yeah, I remember Jason wrote in his ideal life that he wanted to donate $100 million. And it literally my mouth dropped when he read that out.

Jana Shelfer:

Loud.

Jana Shelfer:

I was like we're not giving our money away, Are you crazy?

Jason Shelfer:

A hundred million out of a billion is not much.

Jana Shelfer:

At any rate, that has also been coming to fruition, even though I fight it. I fight it on a daily basis, but we have gotten involved with this foundation Chair of the Love. We're actually on the board and we sometimes don't donate our own personal $100 million, but we donate.

Jason Shelfer:

We facilitate the collection of it and we do donate our own money.

Jana Shelfer:

And it is adding up. I mean, we've raised $800,000 this past year.

Jason Shelfer:

We've personally distributed over 550 wheelchairs at $220 a pop, yeah, so that keeps adding up and I'm just shooting towards that goal. It's crazy how, when you ask the question or when you get very clear, you ask the questions of what is it that lights me up, what is it that gives me joy and excitement?

Jana Shelfer:

Yeah.

Jason Shelfer:

Then we get to start defining that, designing it and moving in that direction, instead of feeling like we're just exhausting ourselves and not getting anywhere.

Jana Shelfer:

Now let me give you a couple hacks. When you start designing your ideal life, when you really start to imagine, what does this really look like? For me, it's not always about the visualization Right. You have to sit there and say what do I want to smell, what do I want to feel, what kind of energy do I want to surround myself with, what kind of energy do I want to exude? I mean, you have to go through not only all of the five senses what do I see, what do I smell, what do I taste, what do I hear, what do I sensory feel. But then you have to go even deeper.

Jana Shelfer:

Yes, and it has to be what kind of energy, what kind of people, what kind of impact, what kind of inspiration, what kind of motivation, what kind of vitality?

Jason Shelfer:

Who do I need to be to have yes, who do I need to become to experience these things? And then just allow yourself to grow towards that journey.

Jana Shelfer:

And you have to remember that, in order to become the person that wants your ideal life, that means you have to align the thoughts that you think, the feelings that you have, the actions that you take, the decisions that you have, the actions that you take, the decisions you make, the perceptions you have, and so then it just becomes a process where you start narrowing it down even more.

Jason Shelfer:

Granularly.

Jana Shelfer:

Yes, minuscule.

Jason Shelfer:

And what helped us tremendously was having coaches Like just having because-.

Jana Shelfer:

I mean we both still have coaches in several areas of our life.

Jason Shelfer:

Yeah, and one of my favorite things that a coach brought up to me and I feel like it was Robin Banks, but I'm not positive, okay, but he said a human will only go as far as they're pushed. We're very much like wheelbarrows, we are. And that was like oh my gosh, I totally get that. It resonates with me Because if I'm working out, when we had Cindy as our trainer, our personal trainer, I was like I am done, Everything hurts, I can't do another lift.

Jana Shelfer:

No, she would say, we're just getting started.

Jason Shelfer:

Yeah, and that was just the warm up.

Jana Shelfer:

I know we would literally have Jason and I would have arguments before she got there like, oh my God, this is going to hurt so bad, you go first. You go first. No, I want to get it over with.

Jason Shelfer:

I'll go first, I'll go first and then at the end she would be like one more.

Jana Shelfer:

And we would hear the other person in our workout room Grunting, crying and like we would sit in the other room going oh my God.

Jason Shelfer:

I'm next. Why didn't I just go first?

Jana Shelfer:

And it was that dirty pain that we would build up in our minds. However, you're right. She pushed us to the point where we had better bodies than we had ever had in our entire lives. I was taking selfies of my abs and my arms and my chest, not our penises, not sharing them with anyone, but I was like in my chest, not our penises, not sharing them with anyone.

Jason Shelfer:

but I was like look at that, Look at my bod, Isn't that crazy. That's not something I do.

Jana Shelfer:

Yeah, especially since today you came home from the doctor, and you're like, oh my God.

Jana Shelfer:

I had to get on the scale.

Jana Shelfer:

I had to get on the scale.

Jason Shelfer:

The holidays just wrecked me and I allowed it.

Jana Shelfer:

I know. So what's our ideal life? Making your mom happy.

Jason Shelfer:

See, we want to make other people happy and nothing else to do, really Like it was so cold, and then I've got this mountain of like.

Jana Shelfer:

Willy Wonka desserts. No, we became like little bears.

Jason Shelfer:

That just keep showing up every day.

Jana Shelfer:

Yet we hoarded our food. We're like oh my God, we really need these calories.

Jason Shelfer:

I've hoarded a lot of it in my belly.

Jana Shelfer:

So now, what is the ideal life look like, physically and in your health phase?

Jason Shelfer:

So a couple of things that really just popped up and I wanted to get very crystal clear on, and I'll spend some time with this. But I want to get outside, I want to be around people. I want to have one or two clients every day, so it's not just where I have my certain days stacked with clients, but I really want to have that impact on someone else that I know it's impactful every single day, but I'm toying with that because I do like having a couple days off.

Jana Shelfer:

What is preventing you from just jumping in?

Jason Shelfer:

Well, I really enjoy the other things that I'm doing, like coaching the Mindvalley coaches and having time to create, like create workbooks and things like that. So it's saying, okay, what's more important to me? And I really think having the spread my clients out throughout the week is going to let me be more intentional with them and also be more fulfilling for me.

Jana Shelfer:

So every day-, so you just contradicted yourself. I know.

Jason Shelfer:

So this is where I need to get clear and I need to ask myself. I need to sit with myself more and get the clarity on what I want to create. So I allow myself to move towards it.

Jana Shelfer:

And what do you need to clear?

Jason Shelfer:

out. I need to clear out where the most joy and fulfillment is coming from. I decide, okay, the most joy and fulfillment comes from individual private clients. Then I need to lessen what I'm doing in Mindvalley and lean more towards the private clients.

Jana Shelfer:

However, I understand your conflict within there, because Mindvalley has been a really great.

Jason Shelfer:

And every time I'm in there with 100 people, 30 people, 200 people and I'm leading those conversations and leading those coaching cohorts, it fills me up like big time.

Jana Shelfer:

So let's do a little exercise and let's just show people, let's demonstrate to people how this works. So what I'm hearing you say, in one hand, you love what you're doing in Mindvalley and you love the feeling that you're getting there, True, and you love that you are making an impact and helping people and what I'm hearing you do is put a conflict and we'll put that conflict in your other hand. In fact, why don't we just do this demonstratingly? Yes, so in your right hand you have mind value up here and in your left hand you want to do your own personal clients.

Jana Shelfer:

Now, why are these two separate?

Jason Shelfer:

Now see when I get the visual representation in my hands like this. I recognize that they don't have to be separate.

Jana Shelfer:

It's not an either or.

Jason Shelfer:

It's a yes, and so, in that, thank you and so what he just did, Oftentimes in my mind they're different.

Jana Shelfer:

So let me explain to everyone what Jason just did. In his right hand he put his one want, which is the Mindvalley coaching the Mindvalley, and in the other hand he put his other want, which is coaching personal clients. And for some reason he was doing in his mind somewhere he was doing. I can't do both.

Jason Shelfer:

I need to balance this. And then, what's the? How does this look? And so the distinction is that it was in my mind and I didn't put them out in front of me in my hands like palms up, pretend, like they're just sitting in your hands on each one and recognizing. Okay, if these are two wants and they're so similar, which is funny.

Jana Shelfer:

They're so parallel. And from an outside perspective it's like it's not one or the other. You literally so then, you merge your hands together, which he did without us describing this to you, to everyone listening. What he did was he merged his hands together as one, and most of the time, you need to sit there and think and and really almost say to your inner self, your inner wants, how can we? We bring this together and work as a team and make it better.

Jason Shelfer:

So in my mind now things are merged and more powerful, more impactful, better, more fulfilling, more energizing all these things. So thank you.

Jana Shelfer:

But when you're doing this at home, you need to go through and you need to literally ask yourself what does this look like, what does this taste like, what does this smell like, what does this sound like, what does this feel like? What are the emotions that this gives me? What does the emotions give to other people?

Jason Shelfer:

Yeah, what's the energy? What language am I using about this? The language I was using is I need to weigh these out and see which one's better, and the new language is. These two work like hand in glove. They're going to be a great mix of Eunice impacting the world.

Jana Shelfer:

We all have this neuroplasticity in our brains and that's the roadmap of how your thoughts work. Somehow in Jason's subconscious mind he has literally almost made it a competition. I can either put my attention and my creativity and my impact over here, or I can do this and somehow, maybe without you knowing it, then one becomes an excuse almost for the other.

Jason Shelfer:

And I see where the conflict arised within me, and it's within the contract of Mindvalley which does that can just be a hey this. These are the boundaries over here, Because one of the contracts in Mindvalley is that you are, you're coaching Coach Ajit's program.

Jana Shelfer:

Yeah.

Jason Shelfer:

Which is incredible.

Jana Shelfer:

It is so great.

Jason Shelfer:

Like there's. It's so different than any other program that I've been through. That's why I fell in love with it.

Jana Shelfer:

We both have fallen in love.

Jason Shelfer:

And then our program Living Lucky® on this other side, but they still complement each other. But I allowed the thought of this contract to be a divisionary tool and now I'm seeing and this is something I haven't worked through with my other coaches, so I'm glad that we're able to work through it right now, because my game just went up- we love that. Yeah right.

Jana Shelfer:

We love that. If your game goes up when you're listening to this, please email us.

Jason Shelfer:

We always love to hear from you and if you're struggling asking yourself these questions or answering the questions for yourself, reach out to us, because that's what we do on a daily basis. And other than that, thanks for joining us and keep Living Lucky®, bye-bye.
